As Istanbul Technical University, School of Foreign Languages, we believe in continuous change both in personal and professional lives. There is always a need for change, movement, and adaptation to deal with our learners from diverse learning backgrounds with various expectations. In that sense, we value professional development activities as one of the primary sources of improvement in our teaching. With this aim in hand, to enhance our teachers’ and guest teachers’ knowledge about changing dynamics of the preparatory school contexts in the 21st century, we organize the second ELT conference entitled “Within and beyond the Classroom” on May 31 - June 1, 2023.
This conference aims to highlight the integration of the 21st century skills in classroom teaching and learning, correct instruction methods to equip learners with better writing strategies, the importance of accurate assessment of L1 use in ELT classrooms, the effects of English Medium Instruction, the future of ChatGPT, and the use of recent technological tools in classroom teaching. We will be sharing ideas to improve and reflect on our own teaching as we learn about new solutions to common problems and reconsider our attitude and prejudices.
